العالم يسعى نحو الأنظمة المستدامة، لكنCities in the Arab world still struggle under massive demographic pressure, high unemployment rates, severe poverty, and environmental degradation.

While sustainable development goals are noble aspirations, they're often overshadowed by these immediate crises.

This is not just a failure of policy; it reflects deeper structural issues that require radical reevaluation.

Instead of focusing solely on increasing infrastructure to accommodate population growth, we must challenge traditional models of urbanization itself.

The status quo promotes sprawl and over-consumption at the expense of livability and sustainability.

We need a paradigm shift towards more compact, mixed-use cities with efficient public transport networks and green spaces integrated into urban planning.

By doing so, we can reduce our ecological footprint while improving quality of life.

Moreover, addressing youth unemployment demands innovative solutions beyond basic vocational training.

It involves revamping educational systems to better align skills with market needs and encouraging entrepreneurship among young people as an alternative path to employment security.

Finally, combating environmental damage necessitates bold steps like phasing out fossil fuels for renewable energy sources and implementing strict regulations against pollution—not token efforts but transformative changes backed by strong political will.

So here’s my call to action: let’s stop debating whether or not we should aim for sustainability; instead, let’s debate how we can truly achieve it despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Our current discourse lacks the urgency required to tackle these complex problems head-on.

It’s time to move away from incremental progress towards revolutionary change—the only way forward if we hope to create thriving, livable cities for future generations.
