الفقر ليس قضية أخلاقية أو فردية، بل نتيجة لعجز النظام الاقتصادي العالمي في توفير الفرص والموارد الأساسية للملايين. كما أن التركيز فقط على الحلول التقنية لزيادة الإنتاجية دون معالجة عدم المساواة الاقتصادية سوف يؤدي إلى تفاقم الفوارق بين الطبقتين العاملة والرأسمالية العالمية. فالذكاء الاصطناعي وأنظمة التعلم الآلي قد تسهلان عملية إنتاج المزيد ولكنها لن تؤدي تلقائيًا إلى خلق وظائف جديدة لأولئك الذين يتم استبدال أعمالهم بها. لذلك، ينبغي النظر إلى المشكلات الاقتصادية والحلول المقترحة من منظور اجتماعي وسياسي واسع بدلاً من اختزالها في تقنيات معينة.
